hellooo!

a few days ago, on pinterest my mum and i found this really cool pillowcase diy, and we thought it would be really fun to make, and they turned out really well! here is how we did it,  i hope you really enjoy making them.

the things we used were -
tulip slick fabric paint
black fabric paint
4 art brushes of different sizes
3 white pillowcases
3 potatoes, small medium and large

we chose to do a watermelon print, a pineapple one and a button one. my favourite was the button print, but they all look amazing! we first squirted out all of the colours on to a dish and then we cut the potatoes to the sizes. we cut one into a half circle for the watermelon, a oval for the pineapple, and we used a knife to make a cris cross pattern on it swell, and just a circle fro the buttons.

for the watermelon, we put pink paint on the half circle potato and then stamped that on about 8-10 times in different places, adding a new layer of pink paint on every time. we then put a green line of paint around the half circle as the skin, and put black dots in as the seed.

for the pineapple, we did he same with a yellow coat of paint on the oval, and put green strokes on top as the leaves, with black dots in-between the cris crosses.

for the buttons, we put each colour of paint on and did 6 dots before changing to the next colour, and then put two black dots/lines in the middle as the holes.

i love the way these ended up, and they are so easy and fun to make. i hope you enjoyed!

Cute Pinboard Decorations! - Avery Huia

Friday, 20 February 2015

Hey guys! In my room, I've got quite a horizontally long pinboard, and I have never really had enough stuff that I've had to pin up on it.

The other day I was watching a video by LaurDIY, and she made a diamond wall art piece, using triangles cut out from magazines. I put my own twist on it, and cut out mostly triangle, with a couple of squares and I found this really cool strip of lots of different colours of paint!

In the middle, I have my timetable for school, and above it I've got some cool things, like a perfume spray card from Victoria's Secret in Sydney, the top from a packet of Frank, a business card from Brandy Melville that I got when I went to Italy, and a tag from a Lush gift.

To the left of the board, I have eight of my favourite Polaroids :)

Hope you enjoy!

Easy & Effective Ways to Decorate Your Room! - Avery Huia

Wednesday, 21 January 2015

Hellooooo!

Over the past few weeks I have been changing up my room a bit, and I thought that I should share some easy tips and tricks to giving your room a mini and inexpensive makeover!

If you have read my Room Tour post, (I suggest taking a look at it before you carry on with this) then you will have seen that my ben was against my wall and in a corner, and my bedside table wasn't actually at my bedside. Since my bed is the largest movable thing in my room, moving that would have lots of impact. I shifted it into the middle of my room, which I really like, and I then moved my table next to the bed. I got inspiration for decorating the top of the bedside from a youtube video by mylifeaseva and she had a DIY in the video. She created a inspiration frame to put somewhere where you could see it everyday. I went on pinterest and found a few quotes that I really loved and want to live by, and put them together on PicMonkey, and printed it out, put a coloured paper background on it and set it in a frame next to my bed.

On my desk, I have a pen and pencil holder, a SugarBaby hand cream, a file holder with a book by the store Superette and a really pretty card that I was given, along with a small notepad. I have a owl shaped piggy bank and a Rubix Cube to play with if I'm not doing anything.

Above my bed I have some lanterns and paper flowers hanging from the roof and I think they make such a difference and I love them and they give a really nice feeling to the room!

Lastly, above my desk I have two hanging pencil cups and I thought that they look really cool if the pencils were in the cups in hot and cold organisation. I think it is a fun and great way to stay organised!

Lots of Love, Avery Huia xxx
