happy place

Thursday, 20 July 2017

Hello, I hope you are having the loveliest day! Today I am sharing with you a few snaps of my happy place, my bedroom! I, as you know, am always changing it up but I am loving the way it is looking now!

Above I have a shelf unit which lies above my bed, and I absolutely love it. You can customise the shelves and where they go and their height, and they are super strong so they hold quite a lot. I have put some plants and books and candles on them, as well as special pictures and the loveliest print, which I got here.

Above is a better look at my bed and shelving, as well as the shelves next to my bed, which I keep blankets, books and other little things. My bed is my favourite part of my room, and I have a lovely linen duvet, which you can get here. I also have some euro pillowcases from Zara and two fluffy ones and a little pink one, and I have some fairy lights strung across the bedhead.

This is my fave part of my room. I am always changing it up, usually every month as I can't keep a July calendar up for too long! I love deciding what colours to incorporate, at the moment I have a woody, monochrome with a dash of pink theme going on and I really like it. I make the calendar myself, and pin up pictures, quotes and little things like my pom pom earrings from Glassons and my little Iris Apfel pin from World.

I hope you enjoyed this little insight on my room!

Monday, 23 May 2016

hellooooooo!

I hope you are always having a good day! today I have a post for you about one of my favourite outfits at the moment.

I am SO excited for winter, it is my favourite season ever, and one of the main reasons why is because of the fashion! I love the colours, styles and pieces in winter, and it makes me so happy, layering and being all warm!

The outfit that I have for you today is one that I really like wearing, and is perfect for winter, when it is cold or raining or windy.

When I was shooting this, it started to rain, so we got an umbrella and I really love the way that it turned out, I think it looks really cool and you will definitely be seeing more of this!

+ jumper = topshop
+ jacket = just jeans
+ jeans = one teaspoon
+ shoes = adidas
+ umbrella = blunt
+ sunglasses = cotton on

I hope you all like this outfit, it is one that I will definitely be getting lots of wear out of this winter!

Have a lovely week! love from avery huia x

room tour! - Avery Huia

Sunday, 20 March 2016

hellooooo!

I hope you are having a lovely day/evening! I am so sorry about the lack of posts recently, I have been sick, and was off school for a week and I have had lots of school work and after school activities as well, but now I have a post that lots of you have asked me for - room tour yay!

I've been wanting to post an updated room tour for a while now, I've had quite a few changes in my room since my last room tour post. The main colours in my room are light blue, black and white. My room has lots of geometric features in it too, like my duvet, curtains and wardrobe door! I hope you enjoy this post and get some inspiration for your room!

Here is part of my desk and bed area, I love this part of my room and I have recently redone my desk area and I've added a grid hanging mood board which I have decorated with lots of polaroids and  pretty photos and quotes.

this is above my wire mood board, and it is a hanging shelf which I store things on in pretty storage things like the grid boxes and copper bags. I keep my pens and pencils in the containers on the top shelf, and I keep them organised in hot and cold colours.  I got the boxes from K-mart and the copper bags from The Warehouse.

this is by my bed looking over to my desk, as I said before, this is my favourite part of my room! my bed linen and the pillow in the middle are from freedom, the big pillows at the back are ones that my mum made, and she also made the small one at the front!

This is my bedside area, and I keep my moodpboard that I made in a previous DIY (here) , my artificial plant, my light from Kmart, and my highlight of the day book from Kikki.K! I really love this book, I think it is really beneficial and it is so much fun looking back on the days of the past few years! It is over a three year span and I have been doing it for just over a year!

this is opposite my bed, and these are my shelves from Kmart. I love them so much because they are really easy to move and they look so cool! I keep my books, polaroid, plants and lots of decorative things on them, and on top is a moodboard that my mum made.

this is another shot of what is opposite of my bed, and next to the shelves are my drawers and on the top I keep a plant of whatever is growing in my garden, some photos and a storage thing with a candle on top.  Above on the wall are some photos and my plants are friends DIY and the star from my christmas decoration post!

I hope you enjoyed this and got some inspiration from it, if you have any questions about where I got anything, please feel free to add a comment, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can!

Key Item - Striped and Denim - Avery Huia

Sunday, 20 September 2015

helloooo!

for this weeks fashion post, I thought that I would do another key item as I haven't done one in a while.

some of the main pieces in my wardrobe are denim and or striped. I love denim and stripes as they are so basic and versatile and suit so many different looks. I have put together three different looks, one for summer, one for winter, and one for going out somewhere special. I love all of these look and are definitely outfits that I would wear.

I love this outfit, especially for summer as it is so basic and you can throw any jumper over it or wear any togs underneath it! the top is from General Pants, shorts from Cotton on, and the shoes are from Converse. these are all such basic pieces and staples that I believe should be in every wardrobe.

I love this outfit, and I think you can really change the style of it to suit you, by adding a cool jacket, or some stand out jewellery, or even change the shoes. these pieces go with nearly anything, and I love how they look together. the tops is from General Pants, jeans from Junkfood, and the shoes are Vans.

This is one of my favourite outfits for the warmer seasons, and I wore it to the 5SOS concerts and I really liked how it looked. You can really dress this outfit up, but also down, to suit the occasion. This is a really nice outfit for summer drinks, or a friends party. the top is General Pants, skirt from Glassons and shoes from Windsor Smith.

I hope you enjoyed this post and got some ideas for outfits from it. I think everybody needs basic, staple pieces like these in their wardrobe, and you can get so many different variations, from style to cut and tone. I hope you enjoyed! See you next week for my September Favourites x

three winter to spring looks - avery huia

Wednesday, 26 August 2015

hellooo!

as we are nearly heading into spring in new zealand, I thought it might be a good idea to share with you some looks for transitioning from warm winter clothes, into slightly cooler outfits. I have come up with three different styles, that you might like to try out.

this first outfit is very simple and casual, and I really like how you could wear this type of outfit at lots of different occasions. the denim skirt is from glassons, the top is from huffer, and the cardigan is from factorie. I love all of the components in this outfit, and I love them even more together. this outfit is still warm for the last couple of winter weeks, but still cool enough to wear in spring.

this outfit is very sporty, and is also very basic. I really like this jacket, as it really stands out, and makes the outfit pop, while the black top and jeans are still tying in with the outfit, but letting the jacket be the main piece. the top is adidas, the jeans are from junkfood, and the jacket is from kmart!

this outfit is definitely more spring like, with the floral jumpsuit and lighter cardigan. it is very girly and adds a bit of colour to an outfit. this is perfect for spring because the colour scheme still has a few neutral tones, but is slowly leading into more summery tones. the jumpsuit and the cardigan are both from factorie.

these are all really stylish outfits, and are great styles for the end of winter - start of spring season.
